Auster AOP9 Built by Chris Reid

The AOP9 was an all new 30' span design in 1956 by the Auster Aircraft Company which had previously built and modified US Taylorcraft designs under licence. A three seater with a 200 bhp Cirrus Bombadier engine it was designed for Army forward air control duties flown by the UK Army Air Corps and several foreign armies.

The model is 1/5 scale with 75" wing span from an Airsail Kit circa the late 80's, and will be powered by an OS52 four stroke. The kit is fairly basic and I have modified it to add a lot of scale detail, flaps, cabin doors and interior, landing lights, undercarriage, tailwheel etc. It is modelled on the prototype aircraft which is still flying from an Auster enthusiasts' centre near Barnstaple.
