Full size Boeing Stearman: Owned by Richard Thwaites and flown from Staverton Airfield. Built 1944 for the war effort. Whilst this aircraft was having refurbishment Jim & Simon Quance took photographs for colour and comparison.
Little size: Built from Nick Ziroli plan with wood laser cut and supplied by Belair Models. Jim Quance (at the young age 85) built and covered this in Solartex over a period of 12 months. It is powered by an OS 300 Sirius 50cc 5 cylinder 4 stroke push rod radial engine. The plane had its maiden flight late in 2008, flown by Selwyn Read in extremely windy conditions - it flew and sounded fantastic. Currently based in Minehead, Somerset but hopefully will be based in Cheltenham when room in workshop allows !
